Trialling mediated action research for development in a remote community in Papua New Guinea
This article discusses research on action research for community development in a remote district of Papua New Guinea. This article reports how statistical analyses of PhD thesis records can reveal future research capacities for disciplines beyond their primary fields. The previous research showed that most theses contributed to and/or used methodologies from more than one discipline. In this paper I explore the emergence of two distinct Western cultures, gay and straight, emerging in the late 19th century and then developing through the first half of the 20th century until gay liberation in the late 1960s when the establishment of gay and lesbian “ethnic style” communities strengthened the heterosexual/homosexual dichotomy.
