    The reliabilities of the Quantity/Frequency Patterns, Problems Resulting from Drinking, Knowledge of Alcohol, and Attitudes Toward Drinking subscales of the Student Alcohol Questionnaire were calculated. The Spearman-Brown reliability coefficients of the subscales were .84, .89, .85, and .27, respectively. Values of Cronbach alpha for the four subscales were .86, .92, .86, and .55, respectively

    The drinking problems of college students from every state in the continental United States were examined in 1982 (n = 4,405), 1985 (n = 3,453), 1988 (n = 4,343), and 1991 (n = 3,907).     Of 4,266 students at 72 USA colleges in 1984–1985, characteristics of subsamples of students from states that had a minimum drinking age of 21 yr. ( N = 1,328) and from those that had a minimum age below 21 yr. ( N = 1,292) were analyzed.
