  • The Impact of Social Isolation on Treatment Burden Among Community‐Dwelling Adults With Disability and Multimorbidity

Open Access•Jiahui Dong, Ming Yan et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2026

BACKGROUND: Social isolation is a critical social determinant of health that amplifies the significant treatment burden faced by community-dwelling adults with disabilities and multimorbidity. While an association between these factors is established, longitudinal evidence capturing their dynamic interplay is scarce, limiting the development of effective, equitable interventions. This study aimed to longitudinally explore how treatment burden evo…

  • Intervention development of a brief messaging intervention for a randomised controlled trial to improve diabetes treatment adherence in sub-Saharan Africa

Open Access•Natalie Leon, Hazel Namadingo et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

The complexity of public health interventions requires that we give more attention to intervention development work. Our documentation and reflection on the StAR2D intervention development process promotes transparency, replicability, assessment of intervention quality, and comparison with other studies

  • Efficacy of a text messaging (SMS) based intervention for adults with hypertension

Open Access•Kirsty Bobrow, Kirsten Bobrow et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

    NCT02019823

  • Gender Differences in the Effects of Community Violence on Mental Health Outcomes in a Sample of Low‐Income Youth Receiving Psychiatric Care

    Open Access•Shabnam Javdani, Jaleel Abdul‐Adil et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Community…•2014•Citada por: 9•Referencias: 58

Previous research suggests that community violence impacts mental health outcomes, but much of this research has not (a) distinguished between different types of community violence, (b) examined gender differences, and (c) focused on youth living in urban poverty. The current study addresses these questions. Participants were 306 youth (23 % girls) and one parent/guardian receiving outpatient psychiatric services for disruptive behavior disorders…

  • Achieving good environmental status in the Black Sea

    Open Access•Tim O''Higgin, Tim O’higgins et al.•ARTICLE•Conservation Ecology•2014•Citada por: 2

O'Higgins, T., A. Farmer, G. Daskalov, S. Knudsen, and L. Mee. 2014. Achieving good environmental status in the Black Sea: scale mismatches in environmental management. Ecology and Society 19(3): 54. https://doi.org/10.5751/ES-06707-190354

  • Ecological benefits of creating messy rivers

    Open Access•Nicholas C Everall, Andrew Farmer et al.•ARTICLE•Area•2012•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 20

This study explores the ecological effects of a woody bank revetment in an upper reach of the River Manifold, Staffordshire, UK. Significantly higher abundances of macroinvertebrates were recorded immediately downstream of the deciduous bank revetment compared with a reference site, in 3 out of 4 months surveyed. The watercourse at the revetment also had significantly higher species richness of aquatic fauna than the reference site in some months…

  • Understanding the outcomes of multi-centre clinical trials

    Open Access•Julia Lawton, Nicholas Jenkins et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•2012•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 35

  • University-Community Mental Health Center Collaboration

  • Designing and evaluating complex interventions to improve health care

Open Access•Neil Campbell, Neil C Campbell et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ•2007

Determining the effectiveness of complex interventions can be difficult and time consuming. Neil C Campbell and colleagues explain the importance of ground work in getting usable results

  • Does Thinking about Personal Health Risk Increase Anxiety

Open Access•Anne-Marie Lister, Sibylle Rode et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Health Psychology•2002•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 6

This study aimed to examine the effect on anxiety about health of a self-referent health questionnaire, in which people were asked to respond to questions about personal risk factors. Participants were randomly allocated into one of two experimental conditions (completing a self-referential assessment of their current health, or personality), with dependent variables measured before and after the experimental manipulation. Dependent variables inc…

  • Developing sustainability

    Open Access•Adam Farmer, Andrew Farmer et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development•2001•Referencias: 3

Former Soviet Central Asia has inherited severe environmental problems from the Soviet Union, alongside a range of social and political structures and poor economic performance. Subsequent political developments have been highly varied, ranging from the development of relatively open societies to highly authoritarian. A large number of environmental NGOs have been formed in all five republics, some from the Soviet period, but mostly in the indepe…
