  • Synchrony of peak-rate years suggests challenges to sustainable development

    Open Access•Ralf Seppelt, Ameur M Manceur et al.•ARTICLE•Conservation Ecology•2015

    Seppelt, R., A. M. Manceur, J. Liu, E. P. Fenichel, and S. Klotz. 2015. Synchrony of peak-rate years suggests challenges to sustainable development: a response to O’Sullivan (2015). Ecology and Society 20(2): 33. https://doi.org/10.5751/ES-07633-200233

  • Synchronized peak-rate years of global resources use

    Open Access•Ralf Seppelt, Ameur M Manceur et al.•ARTICLE•Conservation Ecology•2014•Citada por: 3

Many separate studies have estimated the year of peak, or maximum, rate of using an individual resource such as oil. However, no study has estimated the year of peak rate for multiple resources and investigated the relationships among them. We exploit time series on the appropriation of 27 global renewable and nonrenewable resources. We found 21 resources experienced a peak-rate year, and for 20 resources the peak-rate years occurred between 1960…

  • Using long-term ecosystem service and biodiversity data to study the impacts and adaptation options in response to climate change

    Open Access•Speranta-Maria Popescu, Demet Bi̇lteki̇n et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2010

  • Characteristics of the MIS 5 pollen record from Lathuile Gare, 456 m a.s.l., at the SW border of the Lac d’Annecy (northern French Alps)

Open Access•Jürgen Hahne, Wolfgang Bludau et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2009

Ralf Seppelt, Ingolf Kühn et al.•ARTICLE•GAIA - Ecological Perspectives…•2009

  • Macis

Ingolf Kühn, Martin T Sykes et al.•ARTICLE•GAIA - Ecological Perspectives…•2008

The recently finished EU funded project MACIS reviewed observed and projected climate change impacts on biodiversity. It assessed mitigation and adaptation options. It also reviewed and developed methods to assess future impacts of climate change on biodiversity including the identification of policy options to prevent and minimise these impacts

  • Climate variability in the Aral Sea basin (Central Asia) during the late Holocene based on vegetation changes

    Open Access•Philippe Sorrel, Speranta-Maria Popescu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2007

High-resolution pollen analyses (∼ 50 yr) from sediment cores retrieved at Chernyshov Bay in the NW Large Aral Sea record shifts in vegetational development from subdesertic to steppe vegetation in the Aral Sea basin during the late Holocene. Using pollen data to quantify climatic parameters, we reconstruct and date for the first time significant changes in moisture conditions in Central Asia during the past 2000 yr. Cold and arid conditions prev…

  • Alarm

Josef Settele, Volker Hammen et al.•ARTICLE•GAIA - Ecological Perspectives…•2005

The EU-funded research project ALARM will develop and test methods and protocols for the assessment of large-scale environmental risks in order to minimise negative human impacts. Research focuses on the assessment and forecast of changes in biodiversity and in the structure, function, and dynamics of ecosystems. This includes the relationships between society, the economy and biodiversity
