Tai Nuea
Tai Nuea (ISO 639-3 code: tdd; Glottocode: tain1252) belongs to the Tai-Kadai languages within the Sino-Tibetan language family. It is also known as ‘Tai Nüa’, or ‘Tai Le’, as it is a transliteration of the indigenous name (Luo 1998). Tai Nuea is one of the languages spoken by the Dai people in China, particularly in the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, located in southwestern Yunnan Province, China (Yu & Luo 1980; Wang 1983). Direct targeting of STAT3 by xanthatin suppresses allergic airway inflammation via inhibition of TSLP release and NK2 cell polarization
Xanthatin ameliorates allergic airway inflammation by directly targeting STAT3, thereby dually inhibiting the TSLP/STAT3 axis in epithelial cells and the subsequent STAT3-dependent differentiation of pathogenic NK2 cells, presenting a promising multi-targeted strategy for asthma treatment
The causal impact of smoking behavior on osteoarthritis
Objective Although smoking and osteoarthritis (OA) have been linked in a number of studies, the exact cause of the association is still unknown and the conclusion is controversial. The purpose of this study was to use Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the causal relationship between smoking phenotypes and OA risk from a genetically informed standpoint. Methods As instrumental variables (IVs) based on single nucleotide polymorph…

Zaiwa
Zaiwa (ISO 639-3 code: atb; Glottocode: zaiw1241) belongs to the Burmese branch of the Tibeto-Burman languages, sharing many common features with the Burmese and Achang languages of the same branch. It is primarily spoken by a subgroup of Jingpo people, who identify as ‘Zaiwa’. Beyond Zaiwa, the Jingpo people encompass four distinct subgroups, each conversing in unique linguistic variations, namely Jingpo (景颇), Langsu (浪速), Leqi (勒期), and Bola (波…
Does judicial improvement promote corporate trade credit financing? Evidence from the establishment of circuit courts in China
The establishment of circuit courts is an important measure to enhance judicial impartiality and independence, and thus improve the local judicial environment. This paper takes the establishment of circuit court as a quasi-natural experiment of judicial improvement, and empirically examines the impact of judicial improvement on trade credit financing by using a staggered difference-in-differences (DID) model with Chinese firms from 2009 to 2023 a…

Cyber-infrastructure and epidemic precautionary policy
Introduction: The application of technology supported by cyber infrastructure has emerged as a critical factor influencing city management. This study aims to investigate whether the development of cyber infrastructure can enhance cities' confidence in responding to potential epidemic threats in the context of COVID-19. Methods: China serves as a good example for both COVID-19 management and smart city construction. We take advantage of a special…
Treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity in Twins
Purpose: As common retinopathy is observed in low-birth infants, the characteristics of ROP in twins are worth exploring. The present study tried to demonstrate the risk factors of treatment for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in twins both diagnosed with ROP. Methods: A retrospective, institution-based cohort study of 62 premature ROP twin pairs with a mean gestational age (GA) younger than 35 weeks and a birth weight (BW) lower than 2500 g. On…
Lagrangian inversion of anthropogenic CO 2 emissions from Beijing using differential column measurements
We estimated CO 2 emissions from the Beijing region of China using differential ground-based observations of the column-averaged dry air mole fractions of CO 2 ( Δ X C O 2 , obs ; urban minus upwind background column observations) in winter (1 November 2020–1 March 2021). Beijing is one of the most world’s populated cities and the CO 2 emissions from this region contain large uncertainties in different bottom-up anthropogenic inventories. Differe…
Quantifying the Carbon Reduction Potential of Recycling Construction Waste Based on Life Cycle Assessment
The recycling of construction waste is key to reducing waste generation and CO 2 emissions. This study aimed to develop a quantitative model for analyzing the carbon reduction potential of recycling construction, demolition, and renovation waste (CDRW) in Jiangsu province. The waste generation rate calculation method and nonlinear autoregressive artificial neural network model were used to estimate and predict CDRW generation. The life cycle asse…
Sustainable Land-Use Allocation Model at a Watershed Level under Uncertainty
Land-use allocation models can effectively support sustainable land use. A large number of studies solve the problems of land-use planning by constructing models, such as mathematical models and spatial analysis models. However, these models fail to fully and comprehensively consider three uncertain factors of land-use systems: randomness, interval and fuzziness. 33Therefore, through the study of the watershed land-use system, this paper develops…
Evaluating Environmentally Sustainable Development Based on the PSR Framework and Variable Weigh Analytic Hierarchy Process
Environmentally sustainable development is a multidimensional concept that emphasizes the integration of economy, society and environment within a region and the realization of dynamic balance. How to objectively environmentally sustainable development has been a major concern for scholars and policy makers. To address this problem effectively, we first obtain the indicators of environmentally sustainable development based on the pressure-state-r…
Population genetics of wild Macaca fascicularis with low‐coverage shotgun sequencing of museum specimens
OBJECTIVES: Long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) are widely distributed throughout the mainland and islands of Southeast Asia, making them a useful model for understanding the complex biogeographical history resulting from drastic changes in sea levels throughout the Pleistocene. Past studies based on mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes) of long-tailed macaque museum specimens have traced their colonization patterns throughout the archipelag…
Re-Thinking the Role of Government Information Intervention in the Covid-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic imposes new challenges on the capability of governments in intervening with the information dissemination and reducing the risk of infection outbreak. To reveal the complexity behind government intervention decision, we build a bi-layer network diffusion model for the information-disease dynamics that were intervened in and conduct a full space simulation to illustrate the trade-off faced by governments between information d…
Parental Migration and Well-Being of Left-Behind Children from a Comparative Perspective
Parent–child separation due to migration has become increasingly prominent in developing countries. This chapter first discusses a conceptual framework for understanding the effect of parental migration on children’s development through both a socioeconomic and a psychosocial process. The chapter further highlights the importance of a comparative perspective in understanding how parental migration affects children, suggesting that the field shoul…
Academic Achievement and Loneliness of Migrant Children in China
China's rural-urban migration presents a significant educational challenge. This study uses theories of segmented assimilation and school segregation to measure the assimilation and well-being of migrant children who attend either Beijing's public schools or its informal migrant schools. Controling for other factors, we find poorer achievement and greater loneliness among migrant children who are isolated in migrant schools than similar migrant s…
