Business rhetoric and conventional theory expect that employment regulations will have negative effects on small firms. Prior research has shown that effects are quite rare, but has not explained why. Case studies of 18 firms from three sectors identified four explanations. Differences in Reaction to Frustration as a Function of Need for Approval
Differences in reaction to frustration on the Rosenzweig P-F test were assessed for high and low n approval Ss (as measured by the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability scale). as compared with the low group, high n approval Ss gave significantly fewer E responses ( p < .025) but more M responses ( p < .05).
