    Although Article 6 of the Navajo Treaty of 1868 committed the federal ernment to provide educational facilities for “every thirty children between ages of six and sixteen) who could be induced or compelled to attend sd interest on the part of tribal members was understandably low at the time funds were lacking.     The close similarity ofthe natural environments of Tamil Nadu (India) and eastern Tanzania is demonstrated and the current contrast in their population density and land use is related to their divergent cultural histories.
