Breast Cancer in Relation to Early Use of Oral Contraceptives
A long-term latent effect of oral contraceptives (OCs) on breast cancer risk has been suggested as an explanation for some studies' failure to detect an association between OCs and breast cancer. To address this latency hypothesis, we analyzed data on 4714 case subjects and 4540 control subjects from the population-based Cancer and Steroid Hormone Study. Oatbread-making and eating is a flourishing tradition in the Pottery towns of North Staffordshire. Isolated and self-reliant, the Six Towns have developed and retained their own urban individuality, in some cases built upon inherited rural traditions. The people of North Staffordshire ate their oats in the form of circular dinner-plate-sized cakes, up to 0.5cm. thick, and called ‘oatcakes’.
