A mixed-methods study investigating the acceptability of an early acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) intervention to aid adjustment to appearance changes after burns

New dental and isotope evidence of biological distance and place of origin for mass burial groups at C ahokia's mound 72
OBJECTIVES: Mound 72 at Cahokia figures prominently into interpretations of early Mississippian sociopolitical development. A previous study utilizing dental morphology concluded that the groups of mostly young adult females interred in four mass graves in Mound 72 were likely not from Cahokia and possibly reflect sacrificial offerings from outside communities. Differential Diagnosis of Limb Length Discrepancy in a 19th Century Burial from Southwest Mississippi
This paper reports on a 19th century skeleton from southwest Mississippi that displays shortening of several right side bones. Most notable is a 50-mm discrepancy in leg length involving the tibiae and fibulae. Osseous changes in the right foot suggest limited muscle function was present in this area. However, the shortened tibia and fibula show no signs of atrophy. After considering both osteological features and burial context, it is concluded …

Odontometric determination of sex at Mound 72, Cahokia
The mortuary context of Mound 72 at the Cahokia site is one of the most unusual ever described in prehistoric North America. Previous skeletal analyses suggested that four large mass graves within the mound contained only female skeletons. This paper reports a literature review on the topic of ethical issues in in-depth interviews. The review returned three types of article: general discussion, issues in particular studies, and studies of interview-based research ethics. Whilst many of the issues discussed in these articles are generic to research ethics, such as confidentiality, they often had particular manifestations in this type of research. The processes through which people learn to live with CFS/ME are poorly understood and have not been rigorously explored within the literature. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight women and analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. Participants initially described being 'overwhelmed' by CFS/ME. Attempts at seeking help were unsatisfactory and participants described feeling let down and disbelieved. Participants rea…

In this study, the authors aimed to explore how men manage when two significant life events, stroke and retirement, occur within a close time proximity. They selected 7 men purposively who were either in the process of planning to retire or had just retired when they had suffered a stroke, and used interpretive phenomenological analysis to guide data collection and to analyze the resulting transcripts.
