    This study investigated changes over time in adolescents’and parents’memories for how they felt when they learned of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Adolescents recalled having felt less negative emotion than parents did both 3 months and 8 months after the attacks.     The current study examines two contrasting models of the relationship between illness disclosure and mental health among an ethnically-diverse group of women with HIV/AIDS. In the first, and commonly accepted model, illness disclosure predicts enhanced mental health status.     We present a critical analysis of Peter Conrad's “The discovery of hyperkinesis; Notes on the medicalization of deviant behavior” and compare medical and sociopolitical models of social deviance.
