The article analyzes the language, the propaganda, and communication techniques used by the Red Brigades (BR) during their activities. The analysis is based on the study of 181 communiqués, written and circulated by the terrorist organization between 1970 and 1988, i.e., from the beginning to the end of its activities. Neste artigo analisa-se a influência que teve o Movimento de liberação nacional Tupamaros durante o nascimento e o desenvolvimento das Brigadas Vermelhas italianas. Foram os próprios brigadistas os que, em numerosos comunicados, outorgaram aos Tupamaros o papel de inspiradores das suas ações. A maneira de atuar dos dois, veremos, coincidiu em muitos casos, apesar de que também deve-se destacar os diferentes âmbitos em que se formaram e atuaram
