Sources of Stress for Primary School Head Teachers in New Zealand
A stratified sample of 40 primary school head teachers in the North Island of New Zealand completed a 63 item check‐list on sources of stress. The most highly rated items referred to stress arising from management of time, administrative tasks and interpersonal relationships. The Paired Comparison Method in Educational Research
This paper examined five sets of paired comparison judgments in order to identify the most probable source of intransitivity in the data. An attempt was made to separate the influences of multidimensional judgment criteria, indiscriminable objects, and unreliability. Results call into question the usefulness of the paired comparisons as a method for assessing the dimensionality of judgment criteria, but reinforce its use in providing information …
Development and Validation of a Measure of Dental Patient Satisfaction
As part of the Washington State Dental Auxiliaries Project, a 42-item measure of patient satisfaction with dental care was developed. Effects of Item Characteristics on Multiple-Choice Item Difficulty
MULTIPLE-choice test item responses may be influenced by a number of factors other than knowledge of content. Two factors, language difficulty and option set convergence, were experimentally manipulated and their effects on item difficulty assessed. Option convergence was found to have a significant effect on item difficulty while the effect of language difficulty was not significant. Cross-Cultural Validation of the Attitudes toward Mainstreaming Scale
The eighteen-item Attitudes Toward Mainstreaming Scale was cross-culturally validated by administration to New Zealand samples of inservice teachers, pre-service teachers, and education students (N = 421). Principal components analysis followed by varimax rotation yielded the same four factors found in the development sample. Achievement test reliability and validity as a function of ability were determined for multiple sections of a large University of Washington French class.
