  • MLP-CKD

Open Access•Xueliang Chen, Hao Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Objective To develop and validate a clinically informed deep learning framework for admission laboratory-based screening and risk stratification of uremia-associated advanced renal dysfunction. Methods We propose MLP-CKD, a multi-branch feature interaction-enhanced multilayer perceptron that groups laboratory variables by clinical domain and incorporates missingness indicators to capture test-availability patterns. Adult ICU patients were extract…

  • Ambient air pollution and psoriasis

Open Access•Lingbo Bi, Zi Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2026

Background: Skin is the largest organ of the human body. It continuously encounters environmental toxicants, including airborne pollutants, which may induce many skin disorders, such as psoriasis. However, evidence on the association between airborne pollutants and psoriasis prevalence in China remains limited. Methods: We used nationwide inpatient diagnostic data on psoriasis from 2021 to 2023, encompassing 149 744 cases across 31 provinces, mun…

  • Research on Chinese judicial human rights discourse

    Xiaoyi Huang•ARTICLE•The International Journal of…•2026•Referencias: 14

Human rights discourse is an important expression carrier of the concept of human rights. By searching Chinese judicial judgement documents (CJJDs), one can find that judges invoke the term ‘human rights’ for judgement reasoning and argumentation in litigation. As exercisers of public power, how judges express human rights in their decisions reflects China’s attitude toward protecting human rights in the judicial field, the availability of human …

  • Shared book reading to promote mental well-being among young people with and without Down syndrome

Open Access•Xiaoyi Huang, Iman Long et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background: With societal progress and a deepening understanding of Down syndrome (DS), research focus has shifted toward improving the quality of life and education for youth with DS. This study aims to determine the feasibility and estimate the preliminary effectiveness of a dyadic shared book reading program on the health-related quality of life of youth with DS (primary outcome), the mental wellbeing of university students (secondary outcome)…

  • “Human rights” in the protection of rural women’s land rights and interests in China, 2000–2022

Open Access•Yonghe Zhang, Xiaoyi Huang•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

In mainland China, rural women still suffer from unequal treatment in the distribution of land rights and interests. On the conceptual level, the distribution of land rights in China’s rural areas is often characterized by gender-based discrimination. On the institutional level, although Chinese law clearly stipulates that “women and men enjoy equal rights”, it makes no corresponding provision for issues concerning the land rights and interests o…

  • Examining the relationship between birth weight and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder diagnosis

Open Access•Meng Ni, Lijuan Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

This study found that LBW and VLBW children were at a higher risk of ADHD

  • Gesture and Vocabulary Learning in a Second Language

    Open Access•Xiaoyi Huang, Nayoung Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Language Learning•2019•Citada por: 6•Referencias: 45

When introducing new words in a second language (L2), presenting vocabulary with concurrent gestures might facilitate learners' recollection of new words. Previous research has suggested that this gestural advantage might hold only for gestures that overlap with the semantics of the words. Dual coding theory predicts that learners should learn input better when multiple sensory routes act as aids to retrieval. Our research replicated and extended…

  • Genetic diversity of Y-chromosome microsatellites in the Fujian Han and the Sichuan Han populations of China

    Yong-Li Zhang, Zhang Yong-li et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•2007

Y-chromosome short tandem repeats (STRs) are potentially useful for forensic, anthropological and evolutionary studies. In this study we chose the loci DYS 19, DYS 388, DYS 389 I, DYS 389 II, DYS 390, DYS 391, DYS 392, DYS 393, DYS 425 and DYS 426. Blood samples were taken from 46 unrelated male individuals from Fujian Han and 43 unrelated males from Sichuan Han in China. DNA was extracted by conventional chelex extraction procedure. PCR was carr…

  • The Distribution of Six Biallelic Polymorphisms on Non-Recombining Segments of the Y-Chromosome in Five Chinese Populations

Xiaoyi Huang, Yali Xue et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•2004

Ancient demographic events can be inferred from the distribution of biallelic polymorphisms of NRY. In our study, six Y-biallelic markers were screened in 326 Y-chromosomes from five Chinese populations: Manchu, Fujian Han, Kazak, Bouyei and Sichuan Han. The chi2-test was performed using the SAS package. ARLEQUIN and SPSS programs were used for pairwise Fst's and genetic clusters, respectively. The M9 (G) and RPS4Y (T) polymorphisms show greater …

  • Distribution of the CCR5 Gene 32-basepair Deletion in 11 Chinese Populations

Chunyu Zhang, Songbin Fu et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•2002

A mutant allele of the chemokine receptor gene CCR5 bearing a 32-basepair deletion (delta 32CCR5) could increase the resistance to HIV-1 infection or delayed progression to AIDS. The frequency of this mutation is higher in Europeans than in Asians. To investigate the distribution of this polymorphism in China, 715 individuals from 11 Chinese populations were screened by PCR, including the Han and 10 other ethnic groups. The delta 32CCR5 gene was …
