Communication Strategies in a Second Language
This paper examines trends in second language (L2) communication strategy (CS) research to date. We give a comprehensive review of the relevant literature from the last two decades, with particular consideration of the different ways in which CSs have been defined and of corresponding influences on the organization of strategy taxonomies. Student affective reactions to oral language tests
Many factors influence student reactions to tests, including format, length, time constraints, testing environment, familiarity with test format, perceptions of test validity, and student anxiety. The present study assessed the affective reactions of native Brazilian students to different oral EFL test formats (group and pair) in an achievement testing situation. The Effects of Pictures on Rate of Learning Sight Words
TESTED THE FOCAL ATTENTION HYPOTHESIS that pictures interfere with sight-word learning. The design was structured to avoid 2 methodological flaws identified in most related research.
