A Test For Coder Bias
This paper provides a method of testing for coder bias on variables with three or more coding categories. The test utilizes clarity of coding informa tion as the independent variable. The test-variable coder can test for evi dence of his own biases relative to each coding category, although use of another coder for this task is advised. Coding bias and its ramifications are briefly discussed, and an example is provided of a series of bias tests
War, Sports and Aggression
This paper investigates relationships between war, sport and aggression. Two rival models of behavior are tested: the Drive Discharge Model and the Culture Pattern Model Two test strategies are used: a cross-cultural correlation study and a diachronic case study of the U.S. War and combative sports are found to be positively correlated, thus discrediting aggression as a drive in humans and supporting it as a learned cultural behavior pattern

This paper pracides a checklist for evaluating the methodology of a cross- cultural correlation study. An integral scoring system permits an overall measure of rigor for each study and a means of rating groups of studies.
