In this essay, I use autoethnographic exploration to grapple with the critical/cultural studies approach in the work of Gaston Bachelard. I look to anchor past, present, and future with a Bachelardian conceptualization of time in mind

In this autoethnographic postcard, I consider the realities of a disabled body alongside the potential of self-driving cars. Placing these two considerations into dialogue with one another, I hope to embrace a certain vulnerability associated with laying bare a body for the sake of more fully understanding its role in a cultural, technological, and social context

In this article, the authors use autoethnographic sketches to explore storytelling across generations. Particular attention is devoted to storytelling as a coping mechanism across life’s many learning experiences. The authors hope this article aids other authors in collaborative autoethnographic writing in communication and related fields

I am fascinated by the potential for moments to reveal broader themes within media and everyday life. In this short article, I use autoethnography to explore the aural ritual of listening to a memorial tribute to media celebrities on nightly television news. I hope this article encourages others to use sensory investigation as a methodological tool within the autoethnographic tradition in communication research

This autoethnography examines the role of a specific place-a library carrel-as a space within which to engage in ongoing conversations about the cultural importance of brevity, information quality, and connection and disconnection, among individuals and their machines. I hope this short article contributes to dialogues about knowledge production and consumption within the present-day cultural environment

In developing brevity as a theme, I am motivated by the question: How can we communicate the most information within the tightest spatial boundaries? Autoethnography seems especially well positioned to take up this question within the communication research tradition, because the boundaries within which we communicate (online and offline as well as individually and collectively) seem to be rigid as ever. Silence as Attentive Space
In this autoethnography, I examine silence and its role in the communication world. I believe silence is especially worthy of investigation in a networked world that is at least somewhat devoid of opportunities to pause. In this way, I hope this short paper helps other scholars take up fuller consideration of silence as an active element within and beyond the communication world
Being Rooted
In this autoethnography, I focus on listening as an act that encourages a process of being rooted in a multicultural identity. Listening across languages, cultures, and places helps reveal commonalities that might have otherwise remained unexamined. I hope this short paper motivates others to unpack the ways that seemingly disparate forces may help influence media consumption in everyday life
