This article examines Taiwanese police officers’ and cadets’ attitudes towards immigrants in Taiwan. We examine how attitudes vary based on individual characteristics, and we focus on observed generational differences. Using survey data from 538 Taiwanese police cadets/officers, we examine general attitudes toward immigration and crime. Using cluster analysis, the current study examined the extent to which distinct types of homicides are present using national data of female-perpetrated homicides in South Korea. We present findings from a survey of 304 criminal justice and criminology baccalaureate programs on academic advising. We collected information on the organization, philosophy and practices of undergraduate advising. Most campuses assign students to faculty advisors in their major department. More than four-fifths described the advising philosophy on their campus as intrusive, meaning that students are required or encouraged to seek academic advi…

Alone in a Crowd
This article reports on gender differences in the emotional well-being of prison inmates, a topic on which few crosscultural findings are available. Studying Japanese prisoners, we find that females are more likely than males to experience a sense of hopelessness and despair. These sentiments, we argue, can best be explained by the social isolation that female inmates experience, an isolation that is caused by prison conditions
