  • Antagonistic coexistence

Yang Yang, Xuelian Li et al.•ARTICLE•Tourism Geographies•2026

This study explores tourism-induced spatial transformation in living ECBHS, using Xijiang Miao Village as a case. Integrating Lefebvre’s theory of the production of space with space syntax and GIS analysis, we identify three dynamics. First, tourism intensification reshapes spatial morphology, producing denser configurations, stronger functional integration, and greater walkability in core heritage areas than in peripheral zones. Second, the inte…

  • Assessing insurer guarantee cover and risk retention toward SDG 3

Open Access•Xuelian Li, Shiu-Chieh Chiu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

The paper develops a down-and-out call option to evaluate the equity of a life insurer. The COVID-19 pandemic challenges captured by the premature feature of the down-and-out call option are also identified as structural breaks incorporated into the contingent claim option. Hedging, shown by the guarantee cover ratio, reflects the insurer’s ability to meet policy commitments. Reinsurance, indicated by the risk retention ratio, distributes insuran…

  • Insurer green financing for a supply chain under cap-and-trade regulation

Open Access•Xuelian Li, Tinghui Lu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

This paper introduces a contingent claim analysis to examine sustainable insurance practices. It investigates how life insurers participate in sustainable lending by financing borrowing firms committed to environmentally friendly practices for cleaner production. We establish a capped call option model, where the capped function explicitly considers credit risks associated with borrowing firms in a supply chain engaged in the cap-and-trade mechan…

  • Relationship between Heart Rate Variability and Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction in Elderly Patients

Open Access•Xuelian Li, Xiren Deng et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Health Behavior•2023

Objectives: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is objectively measurable after anesthesia and surgery. Lower heart rate variability (HRV) is associated with poorer cognitive performance, but the relationship between HRV and POCD remains unclear. Methods: Elderly patients who underwent total hip replacement under general anesthesia from the Department of Bone and Joint Surgery, Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University were enrol…

  • Effects and implementation of a minimized physical restraint program for older adults in nursing homes

Open Access•Jun Wang, Weichu Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Purpose: Physical restraint (PR) reduction interventions are currently exploring in developed regions with well-established welfare systems, whereas developing countries with fast population aging have not attracted enough attention. This China's pilot study evaluated the effects of a minimized PR program on restraint reduction and nursing assistants' knowledge, attitudes, intention, and practice toward PR and explored nursing assistants' experie…

  • The positive aspects of caregiving in dementia

Open Access•Jun Wang, Xuelian Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Purpose: The increasing incidence of dementia and home-based care exposes family caregivers to a variety of challenges as they endure strong stressors underlying the caregiver role. Despite growing publications on positive aspects of caregiving in dementia, few studies have identified the extent, nature, and gaps in the existing literature based on a holistic view. The aim was to identify key issues and a holistic view of literature regarding pos…

  • Study on Electrical Characteristics of Thin Flexible Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells

Gong Chen, Yan Wang et al.•ARTICLE•New Materialisms•2022

Flexibility makes output voltage-current curve of thin crystalline silicon solar cell’s photovoltaic (PV) array stair-stepping and corresponding power-voltage curve possessing non-uniform illumination characteristics, so existing conventional PV array model is no more suitable and it is necessary to build a new mathematical model of PV array that is suitable for flexibility condition. Based on engineering model of PV array and combining with seri…

  • Tiao-bu-fei-shen formula promotes downregulation of the caveolin 1-p38 mapk signaling pathway in COPD - Associated tracheobronchomalacia cell model

Open Access•Pengcheng Zhou, Wei Yu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2022

A concentration of 10 ng/mL of IL-1β can generate a stable COPD-associated TBM cell model. TBFS can improve the proteoglycan and type II collagen content, increase cell activity, and reduce the amount of chondrocyte apoptosis. The role of TBFS may be related to mechanisms of inhibiting the expression of the key signaling molecules caveolin 1 and p-p38 MAPK in the caveolin 1-p38 MAPK signaling pathway, thereby reducing the expression of the downst…

  • A Survey of Anxiety and Depressive Symptoms in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients With and Without Tracheobronchial Tuberculosis

    Open Access•Xiaobo Wang, Xiao-bo Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2018

Background and Objective: Anxiety/depression and tuberculosis are global public health problems. The incidence of psychiatric morbidities is high among tuberculosis patients. However, little is known about the prevalence of anxiety and depression among Chinese pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) patients, especially those with tracheobronchial tuberculosis (TBTB). The goal of the present study was to explore the prevalence of and associated factors of a…

  • Patterns of smoking and its association with psychosocial work conditions among blue-collar and service employees of hospitality venues in Shenyang, PR China

Open Access•Xun Li, Huiying Liang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2010

Smoking in hospitality blue-collar and service employees is certainly a major occupational health problem in Shenyang. This evidence also suggests an association between psychosocial-work conditions and smoking status, and implies that more intervention studies where changes in work environment are carried out in combination with health promotion interventions should be performed
