Public satisfaction and trust towards the health system in China and associated factors

To further enhance public satisfaction and trust, continued reforms to the integrated delivery system are needed to reduce fin…
From local innovation to national policy
Many contemporary social problems are innately complex, increasingly requiring joint efforts across sectoral boundaries to find a resolution. Cross‐boundary policy entrepreneurship, a distinctive form of policy dynamism, represents a nascent approach to policy innovation in the face of emerging disruptive technologies. By analysing a major health regulatory reform in China that was catalysed by local innovation, this study explains how a coalitio…

Factors influencing engagement in online dual practice by public hospital doctors in three large cities
Background: In the digital age, a rising number of public sector doctors are providing private telemedicine and telehealth services on online health care platforms. Medical corruption is a significant obstacle to achieving health-related Sustainable Development Goals. However, the understanding of medical corruption is limited, especially in developing countries. As the largest developing country, China is also plagued by medical corruption. Changes of equality of medical service utilization in China between 1993 and 2018
China has experienced significant increases in health care utilization over the past 25 years. Understanding online dual practice of public hospital doctors in China
Telemedicine and telehealth hold promise for reducing access barriers, improving quality and containing medical costs. As Internet companies enter the healthcare market, a rising number of online healthcare platforms have emerged worldwide. In some countries like China, public hospital doctors are providing direct-to-consumer telemedicine services on these commercial platforms as independent providers. Such online service provision creates a new …
Trends in Smoking Prevalence and Intensity between 2010 and 2018
Our study shows declined trends in both smoking prevalence and intensity between 2010 and 2018, suggesting some positive progress in tobacco control in China. Nonetheless, to achieve the goal of reducing smoking prevalence among people aged 15 and above to less than 20% by 2030, the Chinese government needs to take stronger anti-tobacco measures

The Chinese government's undertaking of systemic reform has achieved laudable achievements, including the expansion of social health insurance, the reform of public hospitals, and the strengthening of primary care. An innovative policy tool in China, policy experimentation under hierarchy, played an important role in facilitating these achieve…
An evaluation of systemic reforms of public hospitals
Low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have been searching for effective strategies to reform their inefficient and wasteful public hospitals. Recently, China developed a model of systemic reforms called the Sanming model to address the inefficiency and waste at public hospitals. In this article, we explain and evaluate how the Sanming model reformed its 22 public hospitals in 2013 by simultaneously restructuring the hospital governance structu…
The Effect of Family Structure on Female Labor Participation – Empirical Analysis based on the 2011 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study
Using 2011 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study baseline data, this paper examines the effects of family structure on labor force participation. In consideration of the possible endogeneity provoked by family structure, we constructed regression models with instrument variables. Intergenerational co‐residence significantly decreases women's labor force participation by 14%, while it has no effect on men's labor supply. One potential rea…
