Development of the Intcal Database
The IntCal family of radiocarbon ( 14 C) calibration curves is based on research spanning more than three decades. The IntCal group have collated the 14 C and calendar age data (mostly derived from primary publications with other types of data and meta-data) and, since 2010, made them available for other sorts of analysis through an open-access database. A 1000 year long subdecadal-resolution record of carbonate oxygen isotopes (δ 18 O c ) from Lough-na-Shade, Ireland, provides evidence for changing atmospheric circulation over northwest Europe. The total range of δ 18 O c values (>5‰) is too large to be explained by changes in water temperature. Published records of the Holocene evolution of seasonal stratification in the Celtic Sea (NW European shelf) have been based on benthic proxies, notably benthic foraminifera and associated stable isotopic data. A series of studies demonstrated a strong relationship among the situation-defining variable of degree of harm to victim, sexual configuration among participants, and bystanders' willingness to intervene to stop a theft. A pretest showed that a prior verbal commitment was absolutely necessary for intervention. The Lane and Messe study attempts to assess the effect of internal standards of equity on the final distribution of rewards in a typical equity situation. Reactions to confirmations and disconfirmations of expectancies of equity and inequity
This study investigated subjects' cognitive, affective, and physiological reactions to equity and inequity. Results confirmed two hypotheses derived from equity theory: (a) Subjects were more content (and less distressed) when they were equitably rewarded than when they were either underrewarded or overrewarded (Hypothesis 1).
