  • Levoglucosan and its isomers in terrestrial sediment as a molecular markers provide direct evidence for the low-temperature fire during the mid-Holocene in the northern Shandong Peninsula of China

Open Access•Zhihai Tan, Yubo Yuan et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2023

  • The Sihailongwan Maar Lake, northeastern China as a candidate Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point for the Anthropocene series

    Open Access•Yongming Han, Zhaolong An et al.•ARTICLE•The Anthropocene Review•2023•Citada por: 4•Referencias: 65

Sihailongwan Maar Lake, located in Northeast China, is a candidate Global boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for demarcation of the Anthropocene. The lake's varved sediments are formed by alternating allogenic atmospheric inputs and authigenic lake processes and store a record of environmental and human impacts at a continental-global scale. Varve counting and radiometric dating provided a precise annual-resolution sediment chronology f…

  • Contamination Evaluation and Source Identification of Heavy Metals in the Sediments from the Lishui River Watershed, Southern China

Open Access•Fang Shen, Longjiang Mao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Seven heavy metals (Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb) were measured in surface sediments from the Lishui River watershed, an area with increased soil erosion in China. The mean concentrations of heavy metals were 61.20 mg/kg (Cr), 757.15 mg/kg (Mn), 9.39 mg/kg (Co), 25.31 mg/kg (Ni), 22.84 mg/kg (Cu), 91.66 mg/kg (Zn), and 40.19 mg/kg (Pb), respectively. The spatial distribution of heavy metals was site-specific, exhibiting a remarkably high level in t…

  • Prehistoric and historic overbank floods in the Luoyang Basin along the Luohe River, middle Yellow River basin, China

Open Access•Yuzhu Zhang, Chun Chang Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • Palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental implications of late-Pleistocene aeolian sand in the Jin-Shaan Gorges of the Yellow River valley revealed by luminescence chronology

Open Access•Yuzhu Zhang, Chun Chang Huang et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Referencias: 9

River valleys are critical water-gas-rock interactions zone, where close interaction between fluvial and aeolian deposition are a pronounced feature in arid, semi-arid, and semi-humid environments. Pedo-sedimentological investigations were carried out in the Jin-Shaan Gorges of the Yellow River valley. Two late-Pleistocene and Holocene aeolian sand-loess profiles were identified within the cliff riverbank. The aim of this study is to reveal the p…

  • The linkages with fires, vegetation composition and human activity in response to climate changes in the Chinese Loess Plateau during the Holocene

Open Access•Zhihai Tan, Yongming Han et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2018

  • Wildfire history and climatic change in the semi-arid loess tableland in the middle reaches of the Yellow River of China during the Holocene

    Open Access•Zhihai Tan, Chun Chang Huang et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2013•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 8

High-resolution macroscopic charcoal and sediment analysis was used to reconstruct fire history and environmental changes from three loess-paleosol profiles on the semi-arid loess tableland landscape during the Lateglacial period and the Holocene. Analysis of charcoal concentrations, influx, and the ratios of particle-size classes (from which changes in charcoal taphonomy over time are inferred) in the profiles show spatially coherent patterns of…

  • Holocene wildfires related to climate and land-use change over the Weihe River Basin, China

Open Access•Zhihai Tan, Chun Chang Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2011
