Potential of Micro-Computed Tomography in Analyzing Insert Fixation in Composite Tools
This study presents the results of using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) for non-destructive analysis of the internal structure of composite slotted tools. The research focused on technological features of the assembly and fixation of microblade inserts, distribution of adhesive material, the depth of insertion, and the orientation of individual elements. Four experimental samples were made of antler and bone; microblade inserts were fi xed …
Multilayered Site Malta-most 3 in the Valley of the Belaya River (Based on the Materials of Rescue Excavation in 2024)
The article presents the preliminary results of the research work of the 2024 field season at the multilayered site Malta-Most 3 site in the Usolye district of the Irkutsk region (Belaya River valley). The research is a continuation of the rescue archaeological works of 2020–2021. Burials of the Geoarchaeological Site Ust-Keul 1 (Northern Angara Region)
This paper presents results of a study of two burial complexes from the geoarchaeological site Ust-Keul 1 in Northern Angara region (excavations of 2012). Mortuary rites and grave goods were analyzed, thus making clear the issue of cultural affiliation of these complexes and defining their uniqueness for the Baikal-Yenisei Siberia. The burials were made by a method of inhumation in ground graves. In both cases structures above and within the grav…
Ust-Yodarma 2 – a Reference Multilayered Geoarchaeological Site in the Northern Angara Region (Based on the Results of Work in 2009–2012)
The article presents the results of studying the material culture of the ancient population of the Northern Angara region from the multilayered geoarchaeological site of Ust-Yodarma 2. The site was located on the right cape of the Yodarma River at its confluence with the Angara River. Excavations were carried out in 2009–2012. As a result, 12 cultural levels were identified on the site in the chronological range from the beginning of the Upper Pa…

Chronology of the Neolithic Ceramics of Baikal-Yenisei Siberia
There are two main research areas in the Neolithic studies of the Baikal-Yenisei Siberia. One of them relates to research of mortuary traditions, another with a research of hunter-gatherer’s campsites. Ceramics is of the greatest importance for the cultural identification of campsites complexes. As a result of the Canadian-Russian project, for the Neolithic burials a clear chronological model based on AMS radiocarbon dates corrected for the fresh…
Sosnovyi Mys Burial Ground in the Northern Angara Region
The article presents the results of the study of 8 burial complexes of the Sosnovyi Mys burial ground. The article contains all the information about the history of the discovery and study of this archaeological site. We describe the geographical location and geomorphological structure of the burial ground deposits and give a complete description of the burial complexes No. 1–8 (excavation # 1, archaeological works of 2011). The analysis of indiv…
Fishing in the Early Holocene Human Ecosystem of the Northern Angara Region
Archaeological excavations in the flood zone of the Boguchany hydroelectric plant in 2007-20I2 have resulted in importantfindings relevant to the study ofprehistoric fishing in the northern Angara basin, and to the chronology of its initial stages. Evidence offishing was recorded at the Early Holocene layers of Ostrov Listvenichny (points I and 2), Ust-Yodarma II, Ust-Keul I, Ust-Igirma, Ust-Kova I, and Vorobyevo. Such evidence is scarce at the l…
