Why Men Have Abortions
Support for abortion is comparable between men and women in the United States; one in five reproductive age men reports abortion involvement. Yet, societal focus on abortion as a uniquely women’s issue minimizes men’s involvement in abortion. Incarcerated Women’s Perceptions of a Reproductive Life-Planning Class
The study objective was to qualitatively explore experiences and perceptions of a reproductive life planning (RLP) class among women experiencing incarceration. Twelve focus groups were conducted with a total of 59 women, aged 19–44 (median age of 27). Interview transcripts were analyzed using thematic content analysis methodology. Negotiating Masculinity in a Women's Space
Although women are the focal point of abortion care, a woman's male partner may accompany her to the abortion appointment. Using Connell's 'hierarchy of masculinities' framework, this study examines how male partners negotiate their identity and role in an unfamiliar setting while their female partners undergo an abortion.
