Four night eating behavior subtypes in young and middle-aged adults with type 2 diabetes
To address the limited evidence for public health interventions targeting night eating behavior (defined as eating between dinner and bedtime or waking to eat during sleep) in young and middle-aged T2DM patients in China, this qualitative interview study explored their real-life experiences, motivations, and influencing factors. Using the FBM, we identified night eating characteristics and developed corresponding behavioral subtypes to inform tar…
Evaluating TikTok and YouTube as patient-education resources on kidney transplantation
Objective This study evaluated and compared the quality and educational value of kidney transplantation-related videos on TikTok and YouTube. Methods A structured search identified 151 eligible videos. Each video was assessed using DISCERN, PEMAT-A/V (understandability and actionability), and the Global Quality Scale (GQS). Content completeness was examined across six key educational domains. Correlation analyses were conducted to determine assoc…
Sitz bath with different concentrations of diluted povidone-iodine for prevention of perianal infection in patients with hematological malignancies undergoing chemotherapy
Background The incidence of perianal infection in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing chemotherapy can reach 40–50%. Despite advances in medical technology and improved management strategies, the rate of perianal infection following chemotherapy remains substantial. Currently medicated sitz baths are not widely adopted in clinical practice due to their side effects and limited applicability. Povidone-iodine (PI) is a commonly used c…
A Structure Redefined Graph Pretraining With Contrastive Prompting for Fake News Detection
Fake news detection on social media is crucial to purifying the online environment and protecting public safety. Many existing methods explore the news propagation structures through graph neural networks (GNNs) to determine the truthfulness of news. End-to-end supervised GNNs notoriously depend on large amounts of labels. Recently, self-supervised graph pretraining has been a promising solution to alleviate the dependence on labels. However, the…

Buried Ancient Forest and Implications for Paleoclimate Since the Mid-Holocene in South China
The historical evolution of an ancient forest that developed at Gaoyao, south China, can be divided into 4 stages of radiocarbon intervals (1.1–1.5, 2.0–3.5, 3.6–4.0, and 4.3–4.9 ka) in which the last 3 stages all developed in a wetland and formed humic layers of 2.0, 0.5, and 0.7 m depth, respectively. The humic layers were interrupted by 2 white-gray silty clay layers that most likely formed during climate fluctuations. Four drought events were…
Improved Application of Bomb Carbon in Teeth for Forensic Investigation
While radiocarbon is widely applied in dating ancient samples, recent studies reveal that 14 C concentrations in modern samples can also yield precise ages due to the atmospheric testing of thermonuclear devices between 1950 and 1963. 14 C concentrations in both enamel and organic matter of 13 teeth from 2 areas in China were examined to evaluate and improve this method of forensic investigation. Choosing enamel near the cervix of the tooth can r…
Turnover Rate of Soil Organic Matter and Origin of Soil 14 Co 2 in Deep Soil from a Subtropical Forest in Dinghushan Biosphere Reserve, South China
This paper examines the carbon isotopes ( 13 C, 14 C) of soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil CO 2 from an evergreen broadleaf forest in southern China during the rainy season. The distribution of SOC δ 13 C, and SOC content with depth, exhibits a regular decomposition of SOC compartments with different turnover rates. Labile carbon is the main component in the topsoil (0–12 cm) and has a turnover rate between 0.1 and 0.01 yr –1 . In the middle sec…

The impact of ancient civilization on the northeastern Chinese landscape
The Western Liaohe River Basin in northeastern China is one of the cradles of ancient Chinese civilization. Archaeological records from this region indicate that human occupation began about 8000 years ago and that agriculture and pastoralism were important activities from an early stage. Very little is known, however, about the effects that these activities had upon the landscape. This paper presents the results of a palaeoecological study from …
Response of climate to solar forcing recorded in a 6000-yearδ18O time-series of Chinese peat cellulose
Previous studies have shown that the oxygen isotope ratio (δ 18 O) of plant cellulose can serve as a sensitive proxy indicator of past climate, but its application has mainly been restricted to tree-rings. Here we present a 6000-year high-resolutionδ 18 O record of peat plant cellulose from northeastern China. Theδ 18 O variation is interpreted as reflecting changes in regional surface air temperature. The climate events inferred from the isotope…

Compositional Inhomogeneity of Sediments and Its Potential Effects on Dose Rate Estimation for Electron Spin Resonance Dating of Tooth Enamel
We present results of particle size and radioactivity analyses of sediment samples collected from five sites with different burial environments. The uranium, thorium and potassium concentrations in the five sample sets are shown to vary with particle size. The potential effects of the observed size‐dependent variations on electron spin resonance (ESR) dating of tooth enamel are assessed using two hypothetical models. Our results show that any bia…
