  • Stepwise evolution of the Asian summer monsoon during the Holocene revealed by a stalagmite record from Heifeng Cave, Southwest China

    Open Access•Yingran Yan, Xunlin Yang et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2022•Referencias: 6

The abrupt changes of the Asian summer monsoon (ASM) during the Holocene have long been of interest to environmental scientists. Here, RAMPFIT and Bayesian Change Point (BCP) analyses are applied to analyze the stalagmite δ 18 O record from Heifeng Cave in southern China, and the results show that it is characterized by a distinct stepwise pattern of variation which can be divided into six stages (Stages, S) and five transitional phases (Transiti…

  • A stalagmite δ18O record from Jinfo Cave, southern China reveals early-mid holocene variations in the East Asian Summer Monsoon

Open Access•Xunlin Yang, Ruikai Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2020

  • Early-Holocene monsoon instability and climatic optimum recorded by Chinese stalagmites

    Open Access•Xunlin Yang, Hong Yang et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Referencias: 2

The timing and duration of the Holocene East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) maximum and the interpretation of Chinese stalagmite δ 18 O records have long been disputed. Notably, interpretations of Holocene EASM variations are frequently based on a single record or study area and are often contradictory. In this study, we conducted stable isotope analyses of four Holocene stalagmites from Chongqing, southwest China. The results reveal differences in …

  • Timing and duration of the East Asian summer monsoon maximum during the Holocene based on stalagmite data from North China

    Open Access•Na Zhang, Yan Yang et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2018•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 22

We present a continuous C-O isotope series that shows the detailed variability of East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) since 11.0 ka BP. The series is based on two stalagmites, namely, DSY1 and LM2, which were, respectively, obtained from Dongshiya and Laomu caves. The δ 18 O profiles of stalagmite excurse negatively in early Holocene and gradually become positive after around 6.9 ka BP, tracking the change in Northern Hemisphere summer insolation. M…

  • Holocene stalagmite δ 18 O records in the East Asian monsoon region and their correlation with those in the Indian monsoon region

    Open Access•Xunlin Yang, Jianbao Liu et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 9

We compare well-dated Holocene stalagmite δ 18 O records from the East Asian Summer Monsoon (EASM) region and from the Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) region. We found that the pattern of latitudinal change of speleothem δ 18 O values from the Indian monsoon region to the East Asian monsoon region is almost identical to that of modern precipitation. This suggests that the modern moisture transport route from the Indian Ocean to the East Asian monsoon…

  • A Test of Climate, Sun, and Culture Relationships from an 1810-Year Chinese Cave Record

Open Access•Pingzhong Zhang, Hai Cheng et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2008

A record from Wanxiang Cave, China, characterizes Asian Monsoon (AM) history over the past 1810 years. The summer monsoon correlates with solar variability, Northern Hemisphere and Chinese temperature, Alpine glacial retreat, and Chinese cultural changes. It was generally strong during Europe's Medieval Warm Period and weak during Europe's Little Ice Age, as well as during the final decades of the Tang, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties, all times that we…
