Financial penalty associated with a decline in hospital-acquired complications in Australia

MS-related relapses are associated with substantial utility decrements. As the type and severity of MS influence disutility of relapse, the use of disability severity and MS-type-specific disutility inputs is recommended in future health economic evaluations of MS. Our study supports relapse management and prevention as major mechanisms to improve QoL in people with MS

ME/CFS affects a substantial number of Australians. Whilst this study provides prevalence estimates for the Australian primary care setting, the qualitative evidence highlights the limitations of these. Future research should focus on using robust case ascertainment criteria in a community setting. Responses to provision of personalised cancer risk information
Provision of personalised cancer risk was well received and may be a useful addition to other cancer prevention initiatives. Further work is needed in particular to develop ways to present cancer risk that reflect the general perception of what constitutes a risk high enough to motivate behaviour change and help patients contextualise a less well known health risk by providing a frame of reference

The facilities at Glasgow have been further developed and include a gas counting system utilizing CO 2 as counting material and two liquid scintillation counting laboratories based on synthesis of benzene. Radiocarbon measurements have been performed on a 250 year ‘floating’ tree‐ring section recovered from an archaeological site in north‐east Scotland. Short term fluctuations in atmospheric concentration appear to be superimposed on a general trend of decreasing ambient 14 Cparallel with tree growth.
