  • Taphonomic observation of Jomon human skeletal remains from a collective burial of the Gongenbara shell-mound, Chiba Prefecture, Japan

    Open Access•M Minagawa, Osamu Kondo•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2023•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 2

To evaluate burial customs in the Jomon period of Japan, we observed the taphonomic sig natures of human bones from a secondary collective burial and compared them with those from in dividual burials. We compared the compositions of identified bone parts, degree of weathering, and damage of the bone surfaces based on two neighboring shell-mound sites, Gongenbara and Horinouchi in Chiba Prefecture; a famous secondary collective burial had previous…

  • Stable isotopes of carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen in the contemporary north American human food web

Dale A Schoeller, M Minagawa et al.•ARTICLE•Ecology of Food and Nutrition•1986

The use of stable carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen isotopes as dietary markers was investigated in ten healthy subjects living in metropolitan Chicago, USA. Forty foods were isotopically analyzed and compared with human plasma and hair. From isotopic analysis and average U.S. food intake data, the isotopic composition of dietary protein was estimated to be δ13CPDB = ‐18.0‰, δ13NAIR = 5.2‰, and δ2HSMOW = ‐69‰. Dietary lipid was estimated to be δ13C =…
