Environmental Reproductive Justice and Social Work Praxis
This paper highlights the value of an Environmental Reproductive Justice framework in social work and argues that environmental justice and reproductive justice should not be approached as two distinct issues. Objective: This article examines survivor perspectives of the effectiveness of two different treatments for trauma symptoms among adult female survivors of childhood sexual abuse—Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and eclectic therapy. Hate Crimes Motivated by Sexual Orientation
The enactment of hate crimes legislation raised awareness of the severity of crimes motivated by animus toward individuals and communities. This national telephone survey found that states which mandate local law enforcement agencies to report hate crimes generally have high compliance rates; states without mandatory reporting requirements have few law enforcement agencies that report these crimes. This article presents a secondary analysis of interviews with 30 current and former topless dancers, focusing on references to their experiences of stigma and exploitation. No dancers expressed the opinion that dancers alone were exploited by topless dancing. They cited the mutual exploitation of customers and dancers and exploitation of customers by dancers. A survey of licensed social workers in Texas using self-administered questionnaires revealed that, during the previous 12 months, 17 percent had worked with at least one victim of sexual exploitation by a psychotherapist.
