  • Decolonising plurilingualism in contexts of postcolonial migration

    Open Access•Oakleigh Welply•ARTICLE•Language and Intercultural…•2026

This paper adopts a decolonial perspective to critically examine approaches to plurilingualism in monolingual school contexts in England and France. Drawing on previous research…

  • Charting the path after 2030

Elizabeth Buckner, Tristan Mccowan et al.•ARTICLE•Compare A Journal of Comparative…•2025•Referencias: 13

As 2030 approaches, it is clear the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will fall short of their ambitious targets, raising questions about the future of the global development agenda. • ‘My language … I don’t know how to talk about it’

    Oakleigh Welply•ARTICLE•Language and Intercultural…•2017

This article investigates the ways in which children from immigrant backgrounds view the place of ‘other’ languages in primary schools in France and England. This article draws on findings from a cross-national ethnographic study, which investigated the experiences of 10- and 11-year-old children of immigrants in two primary schools, one in France and one in England. It shows how, in both schools, children had to negotiate the symbolic domination…
