  • The influence of activity levels on humeral retroversion

Jenessa Love, Faith Kylee Darden et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•2026

0.000001). There were no differences by sex, laterality, age, or burial cemetery. We hypothesize that those who were able to live to old age were better resourced with lower physical demands than other members of the community and thus developed less retroversion. Our results also indirectly support the postulate that an increase in general upper extremity physical activity may result in increased retroversion, and not exclusively due to throwing…

  • Injury Patterns and Associated Demographic Characteristics in Children with a Fracture from Equines

    Open Access•Randall T Loder, Alyssa L Walker et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2024

This extensive description of fractures in children due to equestrian injuries can be used to determine the effectiveness of future prevention strategies, such as protective equipment and educational programs. It also gives pediatric trauma and orthopedic surgeons an overall view of the types of fractures which occur in children due to equestrian activities

  • Massive bone destruction in a human proximal femur from ancient Nubia

    M R Buzon, Randall T Loder et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•2024•Citada por: 1

Massive bone destruction in a human right proximal femur is described and differentially discussed in this case study. The individual was an older adult female buried at the ancient Nubian site of Tombos (modern-day Sudan) dating to the early Napatan/Third Intermediate Period (c. 1069-750 BCE). The right femur displayed a pathologic fracture with extensive lytic destruction and resorption of the entire femoral neck, most of the femoral head, and …

  • Fractures in Children Due to Firearm Activity

    Open Access•Randall T Loder, Taylor Luster•ARTICLE•Children•2023

The purpose of this study was to investigate fracture patterns due to pediatric firearm injuries. The data used was from the US Firearm Injury Surveillance Study 1993-2019. Over these 27 years, there were 19,033 children with fractures due to firearm activity with an average age of 12.2 years; 85.2% were boys and the firearm was a powder type in 64.7%. The finger was the most common fracture location, while the tibia/fibula was the most common lo…

  • Injury patterns and associated demographics of intimate partner violence in men presenting to U.S. emergency departments

    Open Access•Bharti Khurana, Denise A Hines et al.•ARTICLE•Aggressive Behavior•2022•Referencias: 50

Research suggests that there are differences between sexes in physical intimate partner violence (IPV) victimization that could lead to different injury patterns. In addition, research shows that men under‐report their injuries yet may suffer grave consequences. It is, thus, vital to establish physical injury patterns in male IPV victims. A retrospective review of prospectively collected data was performed using the National Electronic Injury Sur…
