  • From the Middle - Upper Pleistocene transition to Holocene-a sedimentary profile in the Parchliny area (central Poland) – a comprehensive record of palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic changes

    Open Access•Lucyna Wachecka-Kotkowska, Dariusz Wieczorek et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2026

  • Late Pleistocene and Holocene palaeoenvironmental changes in the northern Carpathian foreland

    Open Access•Marcin Szymanek, Izabela Cabała et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2025•Referencias: 53

Cave deposits are great archives of terrestrial palaeoenvironmental conditions, but in the northern Carpathian foreland only few sequences represent long and stratified Upper Pleistocene and Holocene series. In this paper we analyse a record from the Shelter in Smoleń III (southern Poland), which has been considered a regional stratigraphic stratotype of Holocene clastic cave sediments. With an approximately 2 m long mollusc-bearing sequence, thi…

  • High-resolution insight into the Holocene environmental history of the Burullus Lagoon in northern Nile delta, Egypt

Open Access•Leszek Marks, Fabian Welc et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2022

The modern Nile delta developed in the Middle and Late Holocene, and at its most northern-central point is situated at the Burullus Lagoon, which is environmentally diverse, including salt marshes, mudflats, and sand plains, and separated from a sea by a sand barrier overtopped with high sand dunes. The lagoon has been fed since the Middle Holocene by the Sebennitic branch of the Nile and marine intrusions through the Bughaz inlet. A sediment cor…

  • Small vertebrate and mollusc community response to the latest Pleistocene-Holocene environment and climate changes in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland (Poland, Central Europe)

Open Access•Claudio Berto, Marcin Szymanek et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2022

  • Is there Initial Upper Palaeolithic in Western Tian Shan? Example of an open-air site Katta Sai 2 (Uzbekistan)

    Open Access•M Kot, G Pavlenok et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Anthropological…•2022•Citada por: 12•Referencias: 58

The paper presents the results of multidisciplinary studies on the open-air loess site Katta Sai 2 located in the western piedmonts of Tian Shan in Uzbekistan. Two archaeological horizons contain features associated with the Initial Upper Palaeolithic (IUP) - both Levallois and blade/bladelet volumetric technology, together with an Upper Palaeolithic toolkit. The cultural traits observed in Katta Sai 2 might have local roots dating back to MIS 5a…

  • Environment changes during Middle to Upper Palaeolithic transition in southern Poland (Central Europe). A multiproxy approach for the MIS 3 sequence of Koziarnia Cave (Kraków-Częstochowa Upland)

    Open Access•Claudio Berto, M T Krajcarz et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2020

  • First freshwater microcrustacean record in the bottom sediments of arctic ponds in Bellsund area (SW Spitsbergen)

Open Access•Marcin Szymanek, Jan Dzierżek et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2020

  • Late Pleistocene climate of Poland in the mid-European context

Open Access•Leszek Marks, Michał Makos et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019
