Validation of the Nurturance Scale of the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule
Nursing personnel (50 females, 13 males) in a state mental hospital were rated by supervisors as to their degree of nurturant behavior on the job. There was a correlation of —.30 between these ratings and the nurses' Nurturance scores on the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule. It was suggested that the Edwards Nurturance scale does not reflect nurturant behavior unless the scale is reverse-scored
Dimensions of Verbal Racial Attitudes
The empirical approach to the analysis of attitude organization suggests that verbal racial attitudes are not organized in terms of cognitive, affective, and conative (or behavioral) components but rather in terms of content areas that cross‐cut this structural trichotomy. Revision of the Black Power Sentiment Scale as a measure of black separatism is described. Reliability of the 24-item scale was .80 (Cronbach's alpha). A study based on responses of 257 Negro students supported the validity of the scale in identifying black separatist extremism of the Black Panther variety
