Social Science Discourse and the Biopolitics of Terrorism
This article weaves social science discourse into the fabric of a genealogy of terrorism. The power struggles associated with the US lead global war on terrorism are producing many new objects of knowledge and possible lines of research (e.g., Islamic terrorists, jihadists, suicide bombers, experts on counterterrorism, and ISIS). The politics of victimage
This paper articulates a genealogical approach to critical discourse analysis derived from Michel Foucault and Kenneth Burke. The possibilities of this approach are displayed through a case study of the discourses produced by the 1994 anti-gay, ‘no special rights’ initiative in Idaho (USA). Rhetorical Practice in an Anti‐nuclear Weapons Campaign
This article pmsents a rhetorical analysis of peace activists' discursive practices in a victorious campaign to defeat a Department of Energy plan to build a nuclear weaponsplant in the state of Iaiaho. Employing idear derived from Michel Foucault and Kenneth Burke, a model of political movements as victimage rituals is applied to this campaign. This model suggests that activists must resort to the use of melodramatic rhetoric in power struggles …

This article treats Hitler's national socialist discourse as an extreme example of the social construction of a social problem, a cultural paradigm of how to talk people into fighting revolutions and wars.
