  • Tracking the division of labour through handprints

Open Access•Clark Spencer Larsen, Simon W Hillson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of World Prehistory•2015•Citada por: 26•Referencias: 19

  • “Motherbaby”

    Open Access•Kimberley Christine Patton, Lori D Hager•CHAPTER•Religion at Work in a Neolithic…•2014

Introduction The buried human body is at once both corpse and artifact. As corpse, it is stamped with the biomarkers of a previous existential phase, that is, of animate, gendered, and environmentally situated life, when that body was experienced as “the centre of the world towards which all objects turn their face ... the pivot of the world” (Merleau-Ponty 1980: 82; see Meskell 2000: 16). As artifact, it is as much “creation” or ideological repr…

  • Making Sense of Social Behavior from Disturbed and Commingled Skeletons

    Open Access•B Boz, Lori D Hager•CHAPTER•Commingled and Disarticulated…•2014

  • Obsidian Production and Mortuary Practices at CA-NAP-399, Napa Valley

    Tsim D Schneider, John Holson et al.•ARTICLE•California Archaeology•2014•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 9

Twenty-two accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon determinations were derived from human burials at CA-NAP-399 in Napa County, California. The site was excavated during an archaeological data recovery project related to flood control improvements along the Napa River east of downtown St Helena. Except for one historic burial with 251 glass beads, the radiocarbon data indicate a discrete period of 500 years during the Middle Period (ca. 2…

  • AMS Radiocarbon Dates from Human Burials at CA-NAP-399, Napa Valley, California, USA

    Open Access•Tsim D Schneider, John Holson et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2014•Referencias: 3

This article presents a set of accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dates derived from human bone within burial contexts at CA-NAP-399 in Napa County, California, USA

  • Variation in the development of postcranial robusticity

    Open Access•L W Cowgill, Lori D Hager•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2007•Citada por: 8•Referencias: 112

While the study of variation in adult postcranial robusticity has a long history, few analyses have examined the acquisition of postcranial robusticity within an ontogenetic context. This research evaluates differences in the ontogenetic trajectories of immature femora from three samples, in order to assess the point at which differences in levels of adult postcranial robusticity arise during development. Femoral midshaft cross‐sectional properti…

  • Sex differences in the sciatic notch of great apes and modern humans

    Open Access•Lori D Hager•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1996•Referencias: 36

The sciatic notch has been widely used as a sexing criterion in modern humans. In order to better understand the sex differences of this feature in modern humans and great apes, four measurements of the sciatic notch were taken on samples of modern humans and great apes of known sex. Univariate (ANOVA) analysis and discriminant function analysis were performed on the extant taxa to determine: (1) the discriminating power of each variable in these…
