This study examines the dynamics of nonprofit engagement in advocacy, lobbying, and civic activities through the lens of bounded rationality. How Revenue Sources Impact Nonprofit Advocacy
This study examines how revenue sources influence nonprofit policy engagement. Drawing on resource dependence theory and nonprofit‐government relationship perspectives, we categorize 19 forms of engagement into three types: (1) Complementary Partnerships, (2) Supplementary Contributions, and (3) Adversarial Influence on Government. This study investigates the impacts of negative and positive signals on public-serving organizations’ reputations. We draw on sociocognitive perspectives to test how organizations’ breaches of stakeholders’ trust are repairable over time as well as the moderating effect of organizational mission valence on this forgiveness process. The reputations of nonprofit organizations can be damaged as a result of an organizational scandal, as demonstrated by recent examples of international nonprofit and non-governmental organizations.
