Do Veterans Manage Workload Stress Better? An Analysis of Local Law Enforcement Officers and Workload Stress
The literature on veterans in the public sector tends to focus on the federal level, with little attention to local government, where most people interact with public services. This study helps fill that gap by investigating reported stress among veterans in the context of local policing. We expand the research on the career paths of the chief administrative officers managing cities of all sizes in the United States (U.S.) by surveying the chief administrative officers working in the small, medium, and large cities throughout the U.S. We collected 345 surveys from chief administrative officers. The Save Our Seniors (SOS) program was created by local government officials in South Texas to vaccinate the community's most vulnerable citizens amidst the COVID‐19 pandemic. The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) collaborated with various local government entities and other organizations to identify individuals needing the vaccine but unable to leave home.
