The dermatoglyphics of the 18q– syndrome
The dermatoglyphics of three patients with an 18q – karyotype are reported. Considering the total of 20 cases now known, this deletion definitely affects the dermatoglyphic phenotype of the distal part of the palm resulting in complex configurations in this area. The fingers of these cases display a high frequency of large composite patterns
Sole dermatoglyphics of XYY patients
The low incidence of a tibial loop in the distal hypothenar area of the sole is suggested as a diagnostic feature for XYY patients. No other prepubertal feature is on record
Dermatoglyphics of the XYY syndrome
The presence of an extra Y chromosome in Man results in a condition termed the XYY Syndrome. Such individuals are tall, exhibit aggressive behavior, and may be mentally retarded. XYY patients are usually discovered after they have committed a crime. Even though relatively few XYY patients have been recorded so far in the literature the incidence of this condition in US males has been estimated at 1 in 300.
