Structural stigma
In this article, we argue that structural stigma is a fundamental and often overlooked factor contributing to carer inequalities globally and that interventions that solely target individual carer outcomes are therefore unlikely to be effective or sustainable without a systemic approach that considers the multilevel social issues that are the root causes of carer disparities. Recognising, redistributing and alleviating unpaid care are not only mo…
Psychosocial and healthcare needs among carers in Chile
We explored the factors related to the perception of psychosocial or health support needs among 1,900 carers for people with disabilities or functional impairments in Chile. Being widowed or divorced, providing more hours of care and more personal care tasks, and experiencing higher caregiving difficulty were independently linked with an increased likelihood of reporting support needs. Experiencing low energy, anxious feelings and a low sense of …
Who cares for the carer? Codesigning a carer health and wellbeing clinic for older care partners of older people in Australia
INTRODUCTION: Older carers or 'care partners' of older people experiencing care needs often provide essential support, at times while neglecting their own health and well-being. This is an increasingly frequent scenario due to both demographic changes and policy shifts towards ageing in place. Multiple community stakeholders within the care and support ecosystem hold valuable expertise about the needs of older care partners, and the programme and…
Dementia-related stigma among health professionals, family carers, people with dementia, and the general public in Brazil

There is a dearth of research on this topic in low- and middle-income countries, where the majority of people living with dementia reside. We conducted a secondary analysis of an international database from Alzheimer’s Disease International on the knowledge and attitudes toward people living with dementia among four groups: carers, health professionals, people living with dem…
