We examined the Life Model of residential care for trauma-affected foster youth with life-skill deficits. Staff interviews described implementation. The Community-Oriented Programs Environment Scale, completed by youth and staff, assessed the care environment. The Experience of Maternity Group Homes
Foster teens are particularly vulnerable to the negative consequences of pregnancy. Maternity group homes (MGHs) aim to mitigate risks and promote stability among pregnant and parenting teens. Risk and protective factors for symptoms of depression and anxiety among American Indians
The findings provide strong preliminary support for the role of family protective and promotive factors in offsetting symptoms of anxiety and depression. This is contrary to most models of interventions for anxiety and depression focusing on individual psychotherapy rather than promoting family resilience or involvement.
