  • Rapidly changing attitudes of university students on the use of generative artificial intelligence

    Open Access•Andrew E Williams•ARTICLE•Journal of Further and Higher…•2026

Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT are increasingly impacting the academic landscape, provoking discussions about their potential role in student learning. A clearer understanding of the extent to which students are adopting generative AI is critical to enable educators and universities to properly adapt to advances in AI technology. This longitudinal study examines the attitudes and usage patterns of first-year undergraduate students towards ge…

  • The mystery of misreported trade

    Open Access•Mohammad Farhad, Jakob B Madsen et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2024

This research shows that misreporting of trade is rampant, which markedly reduces the quality of reported bilateral trade data. We devise a novel methodology to correct for misreported bilateral trade while accounting for the composition of product types and for trading partners. Based on bilateral data for 196 countries in the world at the product level over the period 1996–2017, we find that (i) our corrected trade data are significantly more r…

  • Associations of County-Level Social Determinants of Health with Covid-19 Related Hospitalization Among People with HIV

Open Access•Jessica Y Islam, Eric Hurwitz et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS and Behavior•2024

Individually, the COVID-19 and HIV pandemics have differentially impacted minoritized groups due to the role of social determinants of health (SDoH) in the U.S. Little is known how the collision of these two pandemics may have exacerbated adverse health outcomes. We evaluated county-level SDoH and associations with hospitalization after a COVID-19 diagnosis among people with (PWH) and without HIV (PWOH) by racial/ethnic groups. We used the U.S. N…

  • Experimental Combat-Stress Model in Rats

    Open Access•H Stefan Bracha, D Caroline Blanchard et al.•ARTICLE•Dental Anthropology Journal•2018•Referencias: 1

Developmental defects of enamel-stress histomarker rings (accentuated striae) may be a potential measure of diminished vagal tone in research on extreme stress such as exposure to combat. To develop an animal model of this measure, we examined the enamel of rat incisors which erupt continuously. We examined incisors from 15 stressed-colony rats and 7 control-group rats for these histomarkers using the Visible Burrow System (VBS). VBS was develope…

  • Health literacy–listening skill and patient questions following cancer prevention and screening discussions

    Open Access•Kathleen M Mazor, D L Rubin et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2016

OBJECTIVE: Patient question-asking is essential to shared decision making. We sought to describe patients' questions when faced with cancer prevention and screening decisions, and to explore differences in question-asking as a function of health literacy with respect to spoken information (health literacy-listening). METHODS: Four-hundred and thirty-three (433) adults listened to simulated physician-patient interactions discussing (i) prophylacti…

  • Accuracy and Complexities of Using Automated Clinical Data for Capturing Chemotherapy Administrations

Erin J Aiello Bowles, Leah Tuzzio et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2009•Referencias: 7

BACKGROUND: Chemotherapy data are important to almost any study on cancer prognosis and outcomes. However, chemotherapy data obtained from tumor registries may be incomplete, and abstracting chemotherapy directly from medical records can be expensive and time consuming. METHODS: We evaluated the accuracy of using automated clinical data to capture chemotherapy administrations in a cohort of 757 ovarian cancer patients enrolled in 7 health plans i…
