The leaky female body is othered in the workplace. In historically rational, masculine institutions like the academy, leaks are ignored or hidden. Student teaching and learning discourses at an HSI
Instructors and students relationally build their classroom atmosphere together. However, they do not always understand teaching and learning discourses the same way, which can create friction in pedagogy. Intensive motherhood is a pervasive discourse that enables and constrains mothers' choices. The authors draw attention to the emotional labor that has become an institutional expectation of the academic position, particularly among people with marginalized identities, to name this labor as such and to use this documentation as evidence for compensation.
