An acoustic and articulatory investigation into Liverpool and Wirral lateral production in female and male adolescent speech
Liverpool English, commonly known as ‘Scouse’, is often reported to be a low prestige variety of English. Sound Change in Albanian Monolinguals and Albanian-English Sequential Bilingual Returnees in Tirana, Albania
This research investigated contrastive perception of L1 phonological categories in Albanian-English bilinguals who returned to Albania after living abroad for over on average a decade. In Standard Albanian, there are phonemic contrasts between /c/ and /tʃ/, /ɫ/ and /l/, and /ɹ/ and /r/. These phonemic contrasts do not occur in English. A MOO-Based Virtual Training Environment
We have implemented a virtual environment to support the training of engineers in Panels of Experts (POE), a vehicle for gathering customer data. The environment, which is implemented using multi-user domain (MUD) technology, simulates a hotel conference facility, the context in which POEs generally take place. Three experiments tested the hypothesis that judgments about the attributes of categories are disproportionately based on the characteristics of exemplars that best fit the category.
