  • Assessing food ethics awareness in the Australian population

Esra Celik, Дора Маринова et al.•ARTICLE•British Food Journal•2026

Purpose The purpose of this study was twofold: to adapt and test the validity and reliability of the Food Ethics Awareness Scale (FEAS) for use in Australia, and building on this validation, to examine how sociodemographic factors shape responses within the Australian sample. Design/methodology/approach Existing tools assess ethical food decision-making but lack a comprehensive measure of overall food ethics awareness. To address this gap, FEAS w…

  • Attitudes to in vitro meat

    Open Access•Matti Wilks, Clive J C Phillips et al.•ARTICLE•PLoS ONE•2017

Positivity towards meat consumption remains strong, despite evidence of negative environmental and ethical outcomes. Although awareness of these repercussions is rising, there is still public resistance to removing meat from our diets. One potential method to alleviate these effects is to produce in vitro meat: meat grown in a laboratory that does not carry the same environmental or ethical concerns. However, there is limited research examining p…

    Catherine Tiplady, C M Tiplady et al.•ARTICLE•Society and Animals•2017•Referencias: 4

This article describes a study of thirteen women who had lived with companion animals during a domestic violence relationship. The women were interviewed in order to investigate how animals were affected by the violence, as well as how veterinarians were involved. Most women reported that companion animals had been abused or neglected by their partners, and they had delayed leaving due to concerns for animals left in the home. Affected animals mo…

Thai nationals ( n = 494) were recruited by random for the Culture and Human-Animal Interactions ( chai ) telephone survey. The results showed 74% of respondents had a cat and/or a dog (60% dogs, 23% cats); 22% of dogs and 19% of cats were sterilized. Logistic Regress…

We surveyed the attitudes of people toward captive elephants in australia, where importation into zoos has been controversial recently, compared with India, where elephants are indigenous. Both australian (AR, n = 101) and Indian (IR, n = 101) respondents rated conservation as the most important reason for the role of zoos and sanctuaries. Jessica K Walker, Jessica Walker et al.•ARTICLE•Anthrozoös•2014•Citada por: 10•Referencias: 91

Gender plays a significant role in influencing people's attitudes toward animals, however, little is known about how it influences their attribution of emotions to animals. To investigate the role that gender plays in public attitudes toward animals' experience of emotions and beliefs about whether animals can grieve, a face-to-face survey of 1,000 members of the general public was carried out in Brisbane, Australia. Potential respondents were as…

Thomas W Mcgowan, Thomas Mcgowan et al.•ARTICLE•Anthrozoös•2012•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 29

The human–horse bond is powerful and unique and strengthened with years of ownership. Yet, in aged horses, the decision for euthanasia will be faced at some time by most horse owners. We hypothesized that euthanasia is a difficult and distressing decision for most horse owners, and that the decision will be influenced by the owners' personality, difficulty of euthanasia decision, and experiences of euthanasia, as well as external factors. Horse o…
