  • “Wanting to Feel Safe Was Unsafe”

    Open Access•Nathan L Smith, Anthony F Greene et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Black Psychology•2026

Black men’s community violence exposure (CVE) is often framed through deficit-based lenses that obscure adaptation, meaning-making, and resilience. Using a qualitative descriptive design grounded in a social constructivist epistemology and guided by the Social Ecological Model, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 18 Black men aged 22–34 living across U.S. regions. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s reflexive thematic analysis, w…

    Open Access•Russell R Addeo, Anthony F Greene et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1994

This study examined the construct validity of the multidimensional Robson Self-Esteem Questionnaire (RSEQ). The RSEQ and seven other scales measuring affect and self-esteem-related constructs were completed by 307 undergraduate students. Factor analysis suggested that the RSEQ has three factors, which were labeled Self-Deprecation, Attractiveness, and Self-Respect. Correlations between the RSEQ and related constructs provided strong convergent an…

    Open Access•Anthony F Greene, Samuel F Sear et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1993

This study investigated differences between 19 varsity and 20 intramural male football players in trait anger, anger expression, and sports orientation. While varsity athletes reported comparable levels of trait anger, they described significantly less internalized (anger in) and externalized anger (anger out) than intramural athletes. Also, the varsity athletes reported significantly less anger control. Significant differences were also found fo…
