  • Interurban Migration and the Dynamics of a System of Cities

Open Access•Günter Haag, Martin Munz et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning A…•1992•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 16

A stochastic framework for the modelling of interurban migration is presented. The model is an extension of a recently developed master-equation approach to interregional migration. The population dynamics of the French urban system, described by a set of 78 cities, is investigated within the period 1954-82. The importance of synergy effects (self-reinforcing collective effects) as well as socioeconomic macrovariables for the understanding of urb…

  • Urban and Regional Dynamics-Towards an Integrated Approach

    Open Access•Denise Pumain, Günter Haag•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning A…•1991•Referencias: 18

The generic structure of an integrated approach for urban and regional dynamics is presented. Interurban and intraurban interactions of agents are considered. The decision strategies of the different groups' agents on the microlevel, given certain constraints, constitute the fundamental starting point of the analysis. The master equation formalism provides the framework for the derivation of an appropriate set of nonlinear dynamic equations on th…
