  • Mediaeval climatic warming recorded by radiocarbon dated alpine tree-line shift on the Kola Peninsula, Russia

    Open Access•A Hiller, T Boettger et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2001•Citada por: 4•Referencias: 3

Studies of the tree-line history in northern Fennoscandia provide useful evidence about the Holocene environment and the region's climatic history. Here we report on late-Holocene alpine tree-line movement in the Khibiny low mountains on the Kola Peninsula, northwestern Russia. A highly representative collection of subfossil woods above the modern tree-line was obtained and 49 pine samples were radiocarbon dated. Their radiocarbon ages range from…

  • Palaeoecological evidence for Holocene vegetation, climate and land-use change in the low Don basin and Kalmuk area, southern Russia

  • Holocene vegetation dynamics of the southeast Kola Peninsula, Russia

    Open Access•Constantin V Kremenetski, N G Patyk‐Kara et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•1997•Referencias: 2

Two lakes on the southeast Kola Peninsula were investigated by pollen analysis and radiocarbon dating. At c. 11 000-10 000 BP some areas in the southeast of the Kola Peninsula became ice free and sedimen tation in the lakes began. Forest tundra with Betula grew in the region at c. 10 000 BP. The maximum spread of birch forests occurred between 9000 and 8000 BP. Pinus sylvestris expanded from 9000 BP, when the birch- tree cover became more dense. …
