Analyzing the Role of Needs Assessments in Police Drug Diversion Schemes
Police-led drug diversion (PDD) schemes can divert individuals caught in possession of controlled substances away from the harms associated with criminal justice pathways and toward treatment, education, or welfare support. Framing Forgiveness
This article examines (1) how offenders (i.e., death row inmates) express forgiveness at the moment of imminent death, (2) why certain expressions of forgiveness are used more frequently than others, and (3) whether there is any change over time in the hierarchy of preferred forgiveness expressions. This article outlines the history of railways in Japan and discusses the conditions leading to the bold decision to build a new type of line dedicated to high-speed passenger transport. Peer review of mammography interpretations in a breast cancer screening program
Mammograms from a statewide screening program were subjected to a blind review by a panel of expert mammographers. Ninety-five percent (173/182) of original normal mammograms and 53% (164/311) of original abnormal mammograms were reread as normal. Breast biopsy rate and positivity in Rhode Island
Breast biopsy is a common procedure for which few age-specific, population-based data are available. We identified all women who underwent breast biopsy in Rhode Island in 1989 by reviewing the specimen logs at each of 13 pathology laboratories. Among 425,000 women aged 15-97 years, 2685 underwent breast biopsy, for an overall rate of 6/1000. The rate increased with age, peaking among 45- to 54-year-olds and then declining in women over 75. A study of community structural characteristics associated with fluoridation outcomes was conducted in 47 communities. This article examines the geographical distribution of socio-economic groups in England and Wales based on data from the 1961 Census of Population. Each Local Authority is classified into one of six categories, depending on the socio-economic class composition of the male population.
