  • Identification of 371 genetic variants for age at first sex and birth linked to externalising behaviour

    Open Access•Melinda C Mills, Felix C Tropf et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2021•Citada por: 10•Referencias: 81

  • Associations Between Anxiety, Body Mass Index, and Sex Hormones in Women

Open Access•Daniela Staníková, Tobias Luck et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Background. Several studies have shown a positive association between anxiety and obesity, particularly in women. We aimed to study whether sex hormone alterations related to obesity might play a role in this association. Patients and methods. Data for this study were obtained from a population-based cohort study (the LIFE-Adult-Study). A total of 3124 adult women (970 premenopausal and 2154 postmenopausal), were included into analyses. The anxie…

  • Memory-related subjective cognitive symptoms in the adult population

Open Access•Tobias Luck, Susanne Roehr et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2018

Memory-related SCS are very common and unspecific in the non-demented adult population aged 40-79 years. Nonetheless, a substantial proportion of this population has concerns related to experienced memory problems and/or seeks help. Already available information on additional features associated with a higher likelihood of developing dementia in people with SCS may help clinicians to decide who should be monitored more closely

  • Significant differentiation in the apolipoprotein(a)/lipoprotein(a) trait between chimpanzees from Western and Central Africa

Open Access•Asma Noureen, Claudius Ronke et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•2017

Elevated Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) plasma concentrations are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease in humans, largely controlled by the LPA gene encoding apolipoprotein(a) (apo(a)). Lp(a) is composed of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and apo(a) and restricted to Catarrhini. A variable number of kringle IV (KIV) domains in LPA lead to a size polymorphism of apo(a) that is inversely correlated with Lp(a) concentrations. Smaller apo(a) isoforms and h…

  • Effects of psychological eating behaviour domains on the association between socio-economic status and BMI

Open Access•Antje Löffler, Tobias Luck et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2017

Objective The current study investigates potential pathways from socio-economic status (SES) to BMI in the adult population, considering psychological domains of eating behaviour (restrained eating, uncontrolled eating, emotional eating) as potential mediators stratified for sex. Design Data were derived from the population-based cross-sectional LIFE-Adult-Study. Parallel-mediation models were conducted to obtain the total, direct and indirect ef…

  • The Life-Adult-Study

Open Access•Markus Loeffler, Christoph Engel et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

The participation rate was 33 %. The assessment programme was accepted well and completely passed by almost all participants. Biomarker analyses have already been performed in all participants. Genotype, transcriptome and metabolome analyses have been conducted in subgroups. The first follow-up examination will commence in 2016

  • Age- and gender-specific norms for the German version of the Three-Factor Eating-Questionnaire (TFEQ)

Open Access•Antje Löffler, Tobias Luck et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2015•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 11

  • Management of high-risk patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy in Germany

Open Access•Heinz Völler, Frank Sonntag et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2006

Inpatients had a higher rate of comorbidities and more advanced atherosclerotic disease than outpatients. Control of hypertension of inpatients was already better on admission than in outpatients, and treatment intensity in this group was also higher during the observation period. While blood pressure lowering was substantial in both groups, there were still a high proportion of patients who did not achieve treatment goals at discharge
