Evaluating the Process and Outcomes of a Knowledge Translation Approach to Supporting Use of the Diabetes Population Risk Tool (DPoRT) in Public Health Practice

The role of power and control in children's lives
The literature on powerlessness, empowerment and control tends to be adult‐centric and psycho‐centric. It is adult‐centric in that most studies deal with the experience of powerlessness in adults or interpret children's realities from an adult point of view. At the same time, the literature is quite psycho‐centric in that it focuses on the emotional and cognitive dimensions of powerlessness, to the relative neglect of social and political power. …
Psychiatric consumer/survivors' quality of life
In this research, we examined psychiatric consumer/survivors' quality of life using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Based on previous research and ecological/empowerment theory, we expected objective indicators of personal empowerment, social support (including negative network transactions), housing, and community integration to be related to consumer/survivors' perceptions of their subjective qudity of life.
