The Influence of College on Self-Concept
This study estimated the influence of college on student academic and social self-concept within the structure of a causal model. The sample was 4,597 students who enrolled in 379 four-year colleges and universities in 1971, and who were followed for 9 years. The frequency with which scientific papers are cited in the journal literature has been shown to be related to the quality and scholarly stature of individual scientists, academic departments, and scientific journals. This study demonstrates that nearly two-thirds of the variability in the citation frequency of 148 education journals can be explained by five structural characteristics of these journals. A Motivational Typology of Adult Learners
It is recognized that an increasingly larger segment of enrollments at postsecondary institutions are adult learners. It is important, therefore, to better understand the reasons or motivations which have influenced these individuals to pursue further educational study. This study examined faculty educational orientations and values in the context of Holland's personality and vocational choice model.
